Auckland Council has published details of previously unannounced potential fast-track applications, revealing developers are looking to build thousands more houses via the Government’s controversial consenting regime.
The Government is poised to make changes to its controversial fast-track scheme on Wednesday, allowing councils to claw back more infrastructure costs from developments. It follows backlash from mayors – including Auckland’s Wayne Brown – over the potential bill from unplanned developments.
The Auckland Council website now includes a list of fast-track applications – potential projects not yet accepted into the regime and previously unpublicised.
Among them is Whangapouri Drury, comprising 1100 residential dwellings, Tuakiri Dairy Flat, with up to 1200 dwellings, and Rangitoopuni Lots 3-8 Project, a site near Riverhead Forest with as many as 4164 dwellings proposed.
