The Waimauku Community Association is campaigning against the proposed Waimauku West/Pukeatua Fast-Track development of 1,600–2,020 homes, citing inadequate roads, water and wastewater services, flood risk, and worsening traffic on SH16. Media coverage and a joint call from several mayors have increased pressure on the Government to pause rural greenfield Fast-Track housing projects.
Parliamentary Petition
Everyone is encouraged to sign and share the parliamentary petition by 21 September 2026, calling for law changes to take housing developments out of the Fast-Track Act.
